Swannanoa Preschool is a Not for Profit, Community Based Preschool.
All monies received go back into the preschool – spent on such things as resources for the children, upkeep of the building and grounds, wages for the staff and anything else that directly benefits the preschool.
It is really important to us that we budget our money wisely so that we can keep our fees at an affordable rate so that no child is excluded.
Swannanoa Preschool is overseen by a Governing Board. Our Board is made up of the Centre Manager, Staff Representative, and a number of Parents.
Governance thinks about strategic issues, risks and opportunities and is future facing.
As we are a Not for Profit, Community Based Preschool it is really important that our families get involved.
Parents and whānau have an important role to play and have much to contribute. We love having parents/grandparents spend time at the centre. We have had parents share languages with us, many have come in to bake with the children, make preserves and soups.
Mums have helped the children make Christmas decorations, bath babies. Dads too, one of our Police Dads has brought in his police dogs and car (the siren was a hit!), another dad brought in his dogs and gave us an amazing dog agility display.
Don’t forget the Grandparents, Grandma – clay modelling, Granddad – science experiments, we had Dutch Grandparents visit us during International week.
We have also been visited by many kittens, puppies, ducklings, and mice... ponies even! The kids loved the pony rides!!
We hold regular coffee mornings; this is a great way to get to know some local parents/whānau. We also hold regular working bees and have some really dedicated families that always turn up to these but we always need more! Any sort of help anybody can give is always greatly appreciated.
It is our sense of community that contributes to our unique character.
If you have any questions, new ideas or would be available to help us in any way please let Jo, Lorraine or one of our Board know.
